I started riding 4wheelers when I was 16 years old. My husband (boyfriend at the time) and I would ride around on his families 32 acre farm. My first experience with a clutch was on a 1992 Honda trx 250 and I rode that beauty til the Honda and I both turned 22 years old. I finally upgraded to a Honda 400ex and let me tell you, it was a game changer! It was a whole new freedom on the trails! I've always loved exploring the world on the 400. Riding the trails further than I could ever get on foot. We rode local trails for years and finally decided to take a bucket list trip to Moab Utah when we were 25. This trip showed me what life was like on the open trails. Riding along the Colorado river was an experience I'll never forget. As one of the only females in a group of guys, and inspired by the trip, I decided after Moab that it was time to up my game. With this, I purchased my first bike! A Yamaha ttr 230, the perfect size for a girl of my height and weight. I might have thought the 400 provided a trill, but nothing can match the feeling of conquering a large rocky or muddy hill on the bike.
I love the freedom I feel when riding. Even when riding in a large group, I go to this place in my head where it's just me, my bike and the trails.
My favorite thing about riding is how it has shaped my relationship with my husband, Dan. He has taught me almost everything I know about riding and has been by my side through the whole journey. We ride together, we work on our bikes together, and we explore the world together. Sharing our passions has always been a foundation of our relationship, from starting a non-profit to traveling the world together, the next adventure is always around the corner. His passion for riding sparked a sense of adventure in me back when we were 16 and I've been hooked ever since!
